Question
is --dangerously-skip-permissions actually dangerous on my own laptop?
Claude Code asks me to approve basically every command (npm install, npm run build, ls, cat...). I saw people on youtube just start it with
claude --dangerously-skip-permissions
and let it run for an hour. It's my personal laptop, the project is a small habit tracker, nothing secret in it. Is the name just scary or can it really break stuff outside my project folder?
What I’ve tried
Read the warning it prints when you start it with the flag but it doesn't say what it can actually touch. Didn't try it yet.
Before someone answers properly: do you have SSH keys or a logged-in AWS/Supabase CLI on that laptop? That changes the answer a lot. arjun_codes · edited
