Shipped a bird-log app for my weekend walks

Log a bird in two taps, works with no signal.

It stores sightings on the device and syncs when you get back into coverage, because the places worth birding rarely have reception. Species list, date, place, and a note. No social features, on purpose.

ChatGPT helped me work out the offline sync, which I would not have attempted otherwise. What went wrong: my first sync overwrote entries when two walks were logged on different devices, and I lost about a month of my own sightings finding that out.

Offline sync conflicts are the hard part. Last-write-wins per entry, or something smarter? ben_mobile 3 months ago
