Question

Stripe paused my payouts after my first 10 sales and wants more info

Solved · 821 viewsasked by moana_k

Got an email that my account is under review and payouts are paused. I have 10 sales total ($290) for my online course app. They ask for "additional information about your business". I'm freaking out a bit, did I do something wrong?

What I’ve tried

Filled in what I thought they wanted in the dashboard, now it says "pending review". Contacted support, got a generic answer.

Very normal early on, especially a jump from 0 to some sales. Don't panic. wes_codes

Normal risk review, very common for new accounts with new sales. You didn't necessarily do anything wrong.

What they typically check, and what speeds it up:

  • Your website matches what you described in the account (product, prices).
  • Public pages: terms, privacy policy, refund policy, contact info. Course and "digital product" businesses get extra scrutiny because of refund disputes.
  • Business details and identity documents match.
  • Statement descriptor recognizable (so customers don't dispute an unknown charge).

Answer everything they ask in the dashboard, be concrete about what you sell and to whom. Reviews usually take a few days. Payouts resume after; money isn't lost.

Update: approved after 4 days. I added a refund policy page which I didn't have. Thanks for calming me down moana_k

Same happened to me. 3 days, they wanted to see a refund policy and a real support email. Payouts came all at once afterwards.
