How much context should I give Cursor about my whole app?

Sometimes I paste 10 files and it gets confused. Sometimes I paste 1 and it invents functions that don't exist. What's the right amount?

Tried both extremes: ten files pasted, and one file only. Neither felt right.

Neither. Give it a map and let it fetch the territory:

A README section with folder layout and the 10 most important files, one line each.
The one file you are changing, in full.
Names (not contents) of the files it may need: "the types are in lib/types.ts".

Cursor can open files itself. Ten pasted files push out the instruction; one file plus a map keeps the instruction in focus.
